Yonata “Joey” Syarief has over 20 years of experience in program management, financial management, and grantmaking for emergency and development programs. Prior to joining ViriyaENB, Joey served as Operations Lead for the Global Green Growth Institute's Indonesia Country Program, with many special assignments in other Country Programs such as Colombia and Cambodia. , Deputy Director for Finance & Administration for the Indonesian International Education Foundation and Wildlife Conservation Society, where he was responsible for planning, directing and supervising the overall financial and administrative functions including business development. Joey was also responsible for reviewing grants' performance to support effective decision-making and promote strong financial control to grantees when working with The Asia Foundation as Grants Team Leader. Before that, Joey was the Operation Director of the USAID-Agriculture Competitiveness Service Program in Zimbabwe, where he oversaw all aspects of the program’s administrative, financial, grant, and subcontract administration and assisted the Chief of Party in determining program strategic planning. Joey had also served as an Operation Manager of the $14 Million USAID-funded Orangutan Conservation Services Program (OCSP) in Indonesia.

He started his development career with the Catholic Relief Services, where he spent six years in grants, finance, and budgeting. Prior to development works, he worked in South Sulawesi as an Operation Auditor for a mining company. Joey has a Master’s degree in Development Studies and actively participates in promoting Orangutan conservation programs in Indonesia.
